Peygamberimiz (s.a.v.)’in ahlakını soranlara Hz. Aişe (r.anha)’nin Kur’an’a atıfta bulunması makasıdın/meşruiyetin kaynağı İslam’ın anayasasının 6236 ayetten ibaret olduğu gerçeğini gösterir.
Kuranı Kerim 5 ana esas üzerinde ilkeler belirler.
1.Allah’ın Varlığı, birliği
2.Ahiret hayatı
3.Peygamberlik
4.Adalet
İslam’a dair sözlenecek her şey meşruluğunu Kur’an- Kerim’den almalıdır.
Kur’an-ı Kerim’i yorumlayan hiçbir eser meşruluğun kaynağı olamaz, onun adına konuşamaz, ona perde olmaz, onun yerine geçemez.
Said Nursi “Kur’an’ın Hakimiyeti Mutlakası” risalesinde meşruiyetin tek kaynağının olması gereken pozisyonunu şu etkili cümlelerle tarif eder:
“Cumhûru, burhandan ziyade, me'hazdeki kudsiyet imtisale sevk eder.
Qur’an / Legitimate / Maqasid (Higher Objectives)Constitution ≠ Religious Texts / Sharia-based / Means / Statutes
I believe that the ongoing negotiations—sparked by a statement from Mehmet Görmez—will open doors to auspicious outcomes.
In fact, the explanations offered by Mehmet Görmez and those who share similar views align with the call for "updating" that our President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, voiced six years ago at the closing of the Religious Council meeting.
I, too, humbly subscribe to this view.
Regarding the manifestation of the Islamic faith in daily life: while the *maqasid* (fundamental objectives—such as the articles of faith and other obligatory acts) remain constant, the *wasa'il* (means and methods) must be continuously updated.
The institution of *ijtihad* (independent legal reasoning) exists precisely for this purpose.
For the Hajj pilgrimage, acts such as circumambulating the Kaaba, the *waqfa* (standing) at Arafat, and other obligatory rituals constitute the *maqasid*, whereas the mode of travel to reach them constitutes the *wasa'il*.
In the past, the journey was made by camel; today, it is by plane; perhaps tomorrow, it will be by teleportation...
With the third verse of Surah Al-Ma'idah, the edifice of morality was brought to completion within the Holy Quran, which comprises 6,236 verses.
The fact that Hz. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) referred to the Qur’an when asked about the character of our Prophet (peace be upon him) demonstrates that the source of *maqasid* (the higher objectives/legitimacy of the faith) lies in the Qur’an—Islam’s constitution, comprising 6,236 verses.
The Holy Qur’an establishes principles based on six fundamental tenets:
1. The existence and oneness of Allah
2. The Hereafter
3. Prophethood
4. Justice
5. Worship
The continuous updating of the *vesail* (the means or instruments)—which serve to reflect these *maqasid* in the lives of individuals and society—must be an essential characteristic of Islam, a religion that claims universality; provided, of course, that such updates do not conflict with the 6,236 constitutional articles found in the Qur’an.
Today, the fundamental error made by those who oppose the updating of these means—individuals who are sensitive regarding religion but weak in rational reasoning—is their failure to distinguish between *maqasid* (objectives) and *vesail* (means), leading them to mistake the means for the objectives themselves.
Everything said regarding Islam must derive its legitimacy from the Holy Quran.
No work interpreting the Holy Quran can serve as a source of legitimacy, speak on its behalf, act as a veil before it, or take its place.
In his treatise titled "The Absolute Sovereignty of the Quran," Said Nursi describes the position that constitutes the sole source of legitimacy with the following impactful words:
"It is the sanctity of the source—rather than rational demonstration—that moves the masses to compliance. The books of the *mujtahids* (jurists) should reveal the Quran like a medium or a pane of glass; they must not act as a substitute or a shadow.
Had the Quran been presented directly regarding the essentials of the faith, the mind would naturally have grasped that inherent sanctity—which serves to inspire obedience and awaken the conscience. Consequently, the heart would have acquired a faculty of sensitivity, ensuring it did not remain deaf to the promptings of faith."
Thus, while books on Sharia ought to have remained like transparent glass, the passage of time and the errors of mere imitators caused them to rust and become a veil. Indeed, although these books were meant to serve as commentaries on the Qur’an, they came to be regarded as independent, self-contained treatises.
While the concept of a distinct class of "monastics" or a professional clergy is prohibited in Islam (Hadid, 57/27)—unlike in Christianity and Judaism—such a group emerged later; in other words, those who derive their livelihood from a static understanding of religion raise a great outcry whenever calls for change and renewal arise.
Yet Allah—Who is engaged in a new matter every day (Rahman, 55/29)—desires that His servants also practice their devotion in harmony with this constant flow of change in the universe, employing an active intellect and an alert heart.
The Holy Qur’an—which deciphers for us the codes of a universe that is constantly renewing itself through fresh manifestations each day—must serve as the primary vehicle, the touchstone, and the fundamental standard for this continuous change and renewal.
Research and statistics regarding the practice of Islam in our country—at both the individual and societal levels—are well known to all concerned parties.
Let us consider one specific aspect:
There is talk of a rise in deism.
Young people’s preference for deism should also be interpreted not as a rejection of true Islam—as articulated in the Holy Quran and authentic Hadith—but rather as a rejection of the system that has supplanted it and cast a shadow over it.
In this regard, those who claim to represent Islam need to engage in serious self-criticism and offer the "Supplication of Ta'if," rather than constantly seeking to place the blame on others.
